Fattah Announces $28 Million in HUD funding for Homelessness Relief

Congressman Fattah announced that the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded $28,027,383 in grant funding to the City of Philadelphia's Office of Supportive Housing (OSH) as part of the first wave of Continuum of Care (CoC) grants. A total of 86 programs under the Office of Supportive Housing will receive funds to combat homelessness by providing housing and various support services in the Philadelphia area.

"President Obama and the Department of Housing and Urban Development have continued to demonstrate their pledge to eradicate homelessness and increase affordable housing across the nation. This grant to the Office of Supportive Housing is another example of this pledge," Congressman Fattah stated. "As a long time champion of affordable housing, I commend the strides that HUD and Philadelphia have taken to reduce the rate of homelessness in our city and to provide all of our citizens with a permanent place to call "home.'"

With the $28 million in HUD funding, the Office of Supportive Housing will become better equipped to aide Philadelphians with their search for affordable housing. This includes providing leasing and rental assistance to citizens along with expanding programmatic opportunities within the housing community.
